Eco Qigong is a quiet, slow, easeful, embodied exploration of energy. The energy as it flows through nature and as it flows through the ecosystem within one’s own body, and the ways it weaves and intersects and all becomes one.

We explore this energy through graceful gentle gestures, slowly moving at the pace of our own intentional breath. We emulate nature and playfully explore the embodied sensations of energy and the spaces in between.

Like all of the Blue Dot Well practices offerings, a significant part of its benefits are derived of being shared with kindred spirits and immersed in nature.

“Where the mind goes, the Qi flows” is a common Qigong adage. Attention and intention are very powerful forces, the way one responds to the inevitable challenges of life determines how much suffering results. Allow your mind to ruminate on injustices, to overthink challenges, to devote most of your time and resources submitting to societal expectation for more and faster and bigger, and quite quickly you can diminish your Qi to a sticky stagnant puddle of toxic energy. When one’s Qi is stuck and/or depleted that manifests in many realms of being, from chronic pain and disease and fatigue to depression, anxiety, anger, loneliness, and despair.

Qigong is a practice in decluttering the mind and devoting a time to intentionally nourish and notice our internal reservoir of Qi, what fills it up, what enlivens it, what feels like wild abandon, and what weighs it down, what makes it murky, what makes it chaotic. Qigong incorporates breath and touch and movement and mindfulness. It is patiently, gently, practicing the cultivation of a frame of mind that is non-judgmental, curious, compassionate, open, grounded and energized, peaceful and playful and present.

For example, If you enjoy being by the ocean, then Qigong is intentionally being by the ocean and exploring the sensations you enjoy, getting curious about how small differentials influence the energy and if a slightly higher or lower frequency (temperature, proximity to the water, season, pace, company, time of day, phase of the moon) actually feels delightful too, or perhaps not, or perhaps simply in a slightly different way.

Indeed, Qigong can be just about anything, from doing the dishes to writing a song, to swimming laps, to climbing a tree. It is engaging in DEEP PLAY. It is engaged outside of ordinary life. It is losing track of time, being in the zone, finding flow state, getting on the same wavelength as those you share the practice with; your colleagues, your teammates, your care team, your students, your employees, your clients, your family. It is practicing with matching your frequency to that of the reality you want.
